"Ol' Mill Station"

For many people, building a new house can be a stressful experience, but working with Tom Smith and his team at TGS Construction made creating our home a joyful adventure.  For that reason, we are actually sorry the building phase is over.  Tom Smith is one of the kindest, most honest people we have met, with high expectations for quality work at a reasonable price.  We quickly noticed that Tom surrounds himself with a crew and selects sub-contractors who reflect those characteristics as well.  We appreciated Tom’s construction insights, cost-saving suggestions, and design ideas from the earliest planning stages with the architect and on throughout the entire process.  Time and again the workmanship of Tom and his crew exceeded our expectations.  They found one-of-a-kind materials for us, created custom finishes, and incorporated a myriad of unexpected details that have made our home uniquely ours.  When we were mid-way in the building process we found this quote, and we believe it perfectly describes Tom Smith and his TGS Construction team:

“He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.” --
St. Francis of Assisi

"Riverfront Villa"

TGS built our dream home on the Carson River in 2011, and the entire experience was wonderful from start to finish.  Tom Smith took the plans I designed and made our home even better than we dreamed.  His use of antique and salvaged re-purposed materials makes a terrific impression both inside and out.  He patiently gave us full size visuals during the process, so we were able to make educated decisions.  He has wonderful design taste and was extremely helpful on the hundreds of choices that needed to be made.  He is budget conscious and his crew is talented and a joy to be around.
I cannot say enough great things about having Tom Smith as our contractor and I highly recommend TGS to everyone I know who is considering building a house.
